Updated restrictions for numbers from old carrier

Our old phone number provider has informed us of changes to activation requirements for phone numbers from some countries. This page serves as a guide to the updated restrictions. The page is divided into two sections - the first section lists the updated restrictions from the affected countries. The second section lists what documents need to be provided and any special requirements.

The restrictions mentioned on this page only apply to phone numbers that were purchased from Sonetel before December-2018.

List of acceptable documents

Due to differences in local regulations, some countries have specific requirements for documents. These are given below. For countries not given in the list below, valid address proof is usually a utility bill (electricity, internet, etc) or a bank statement issued in the last 6 months. The ID proof can be a driving license, passport, national ID card, or similar. The name on the address proof should match the name on the ID card. In case you have any questions, please contact us.

Austria

Valid proof of address

  • Geographic numbers: A proof of telecom services at the location of the end-user (one of the following documents):

    • An invoice from a telephone operator in the same prefix area as the numbers you'd like, issued in the last 6 months.

    • An existing contract for an internet connection with a fixed IP address in the same prefix area as the numbers you'd like.

    • An invoice for an internet connection with a fixed IP address in the same prefix area as the numbers you'd like, issued in the last 6 months.

  • National and Toll-Free numbers: Third-party issued bank statements and utility bills (from the previous 6 months); government documents (issued in the past year); or IDs listing the submitted address such as government-issued IDs, passports, drivers licenses.

Valid proof of ID

  • For individual end-users, a copy of an ID card or passport.

  • For business end-users, the ID/passport of an authorized representative and a copy of the business registration.

Germany

Valid proof of address

  • Handelsregisterauszug (Commercial Register)

  • Bescheinigung der Gewerbeanzeige (Business Registration)

  • Business Taxation document supplied by the local authority whether that be government, state, municipality.

Valid proof of ID:

  • German government-issued ID Card that shows the address.

  • Passport

  • ID is required to match the proof of address documentation being provided. If not then a proof of authorized person document is required alongside the ID.

South Korea

Valid proof of address

  • A utility bill at the location of the end-user

  • Proof of rental agreement

  • Korean Driving License

Valid proof of ID (for all number types)

  • For individual end-users, a copy of one of the following:

    • Korean ID Card

    • Korean Alien Registration Card (front and back)

    • Korean Driving License

    • Government-issued ID from any country (Passport/National ID Card/Driving License ID Card)

  • For business end-users, the following documents are needed:

    • Business registration - A South Korean business registration document that must be linked to the business name on the proof of address requirement.

    • ID (types listed above) of the representative named on the business registration or a document linking the authorized representative to the business along with the ID is permissible.

Turkey

Additional details required for all Turkey numbers:

  • Company tax office and number

  • Company MERSIS number

  • Authorized person's Mother and Father name

Valid proof of address (both the documents are needed):

  • Turkish Business registration

  • Turkish Business taxation registration

Valid proof of ID:

  • The ID must belong to the company representative of the Turkish business.

  • ID type must be one of the following:

    • Turkish National ID Card (front and back)

    • Turkish Residence Permit

    • Turkish Passport
