July 14th – Public web site outage
6.40 PM UTC – Our web hosting provider experienced an outage in their West coast data center, which caused our public web site and email to become unavailable.
Telephony service were not affected since they are delivered from our own secure data center in Amsterdam. Also our customer portal was available as usual as this also is delivered from our own data center and our own servers.
We run our public web site with an external provider for security reasons – since it contains more third party components and therefore is less “safe” to run in our own data center.
8.11 PM UTC – The web site is available again.
We are taking actions to ensure full redundancy of our public web site moving forward. All critical aspects of our service are already running in redundant high availability mode – but not the public web server. This will be corrected.
