June 6-7 – Problems with calls
08:00 PM UTC. We are experiencing a severe outage of our services, which appears to be due to a heavy influx of network traffic to our servers. Our engineering team is working on this.
Calls and access to the web portal are not working at the moment.
10:00 PM UTC. Our team is still working on this issue. We apologize for the inconvenience.
11:00 PM UTC. Our team is still working on this issue. A portion of the traffic to some of our phone numbers is now restored. We are working on fixing the rest.
June 7 01:00 AM UTC. All services are working normally now.
We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused.
Our engineers are now investigating to find the root cause of the problem. Our SIP infrastructure suddenly experienced an extremely large traffic volume which caused a spike that led to the outage. Whether this was caused due to internal factors(an upgrade was done about 16 hours back) or due to external factors is not known. We are currently investigating this in detail.
08:00 AM UTC, Further information
Our investigations have revealed that the outage was triggered by external factors due to a burst of SIP traffic to specific servers in our SIP infrastructure from the internet. This caused our SIP proxies to be subject to a sudden spike in traffic volume causing our internal network nodes to get overloaded. We have taken actions to block such rogue traffic and prevent spike build up in the future.
